Steeped in history and tucked away at the end of a gravel drive, it really is a special place.
An idyllic setting
This marvellous hotel retains all of its period charms. The reception rooms have been carefully furnished with ornaments, engravings and furniture typical of the 18th century.
The hunting lodge has a slightly more contemporary feel. The house is surrounded by magnificent gardens full of roses, magnolia and rhododendron, terraces and fountains. It’s the perfect place to relax and sample the peaceful Basque way of life.
All rooms feature a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, Wi-Fi, bathtub, hairdryer and minibar. Guests staying in the hunting lodge will also have a private terrace with garden or park view.
Hôtel Château du Claire de Lune has a lovely restaurant and bar. If you want to sample some traditional French cuisine, it’s worth visiting Arosta which although is part of the hotel’s estate. It is an independent restaurant, creatively housed in an 18th-century farm.
