Hotel de Londres has witnessed firsthand the changes in the city of Donostia, San Sebastián. From La Belle Epoque to today Queen Isabel II set the tone for this hotel well over a century ago and which still exudes that regal and very “British” feel.
Among the many guests that have enjoyed this hotel are Henri Marie de Toulouse-Lautrec, Archduchess Elizabeth of Austria, David Strauss and the spy Mata Hari after whom one of the hotels prestigious suites has been named in recognition of her enigmatic beauty.
Charm and tradition
At present, the Hotel de Londres y de Inglaterra has 167 rooms including 11 suites. It also has 4 magnificent lounges, Bristol, Windsor, Victoria and Wellington. The Mari Galant brasserie serves traditional Basque dishes though it specialises in grilled meat, fish and vegetables. The Bar Swing is open for omelettes, burgers, toasties and the like.
Its terrace overlooks the sea and is frequented by well-heeled Donostiarras taking tea and cake in the afternoons. The Hotel de Londres is thus a modern establishment with the charm of tradition…
